The Parliament has approved amendments to the 2026 State Budget, increasing security and defence funding by an additional UAH 1,560.1 billion.
Once enacted, total defence and security expenditure for this year will reach UAH 4.367 trillion, allocated as follows:
- UAH 2.297 trillion for the procurement and repair of military equipment, weapons and ammunition
- UAH 1.454 trillion for service pay to military personnel
- UAH 213.6 billion reserved for the security and defence sector
Financing Boost from the EU
This expansion of funding was made possible by agreement on a €90 billion loan from the European Union for 2026–2027, of which €60 billion will be directed specifically to defence needs.
