New Ukrainian precision munition Firefly ready for series production

The Firefly munition has been tested on Ukraine's main bomber drones

The Ministry of Defence has developed a new class of guided munitions called Firefly, which has passed testing and is ready for series production.

Firefly operates effectively at altitudes of up to 800 metres. Once released, the munition calculates its own flight path and adjusts it towards the target, holding its accuracy even under enemy electronic warfare. This makes it possible to hit fortifications, dugouts and other protected enemy positions from a distance that is safe for the carrier.

The developers tested Firefly on Ukraine's main bomber drones. The system confirmed its effectiveness and is ready for series production.

The path to series production is opened by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1310 of 13 October 2025. The document allows the Ministry of Defence to transfer the rights to use the technology to private defence enterprises. Brave1 manufacturers and innovators can join in scaling up Firefly and integrate the ready-made technology into their own production.

One of the priorities of Ukraine's defence strategy is technological superiority over the enemy.

In the first half of this year alone, the Ministry of Defence codified 1,184 new samples of weapons and military equipment and authorized them for operational use in the Defence Forces. Of these, more than 90% are of Ukrainian manufacture. The arsenal of Ukraine's defenders was also reinforced with more than 200 samples of various munitions.
